- Gain knowledge of neonatal anatomy and physiology, including cardiopulmonary transition at birth, fetal circulation, and the physiological changes during the transition to extrauterine life.
- Learn to recognize signs of neonatal distress requiring resuscitation, such as apnea, gasping, poor muscle tone, and bradycardia, through realistic simulation scenarios.
- Practice assessment techniques to evaluate the need for neonatal resuscitation, including Apgar scoring, assessment of heart rate, respiratory effort, muscle tone, and color.
- Familiarize yourself with neonatal resuscitation equipment, including bag-mask devices, suction devices, and cardiac monitors, and learn to use them effectively during resuscitation efforts.
- Develop skills in managing common neonatal emergencies requiring resuscitation, such as meconium aspiration syndrome, birth asphyxia, and congenital heart defects, through simulated scenarios.
